I recently bought my first lasers in half a decade based on advice on this forum. I don't have much to contribute so didn't think I'd be back much, but I run a blog where I discuss misconceptions/conspiracies/etc. related to astronomy, physics, and geology.

I've been watching all the old Law & Order: SVU episodes and last night made it to season 5. In the first episode of the season, a lab tech makes a big deal about using lasers to see ink on a receipt that's saturated with blood. Problem is, she gets a few things wrong.

So, I blogged about it and thought that this may be a crowd interested in it and would let me know if *I* made a mistake, too. (And, well, it never hurts to advertise a bit for one's blog ;) .)

Wow, nice way to mess up your colours and wavelength... And orange comes BEFORE green? Yeah right >_>

I hate it when Tv series do this, misinforms the population and keeps them dumb. If they can't even get their wavelength correct then I wonder how much of their legal mumbo jumbo is actually correct...

I've been told that the legal stuff and the general process isn't hugely accurate. An ADA friend of mine actually told me that the most realistic is the movie, "My Cousin Vinny." At least with Colorado judges.

I loved that movie...

Movies and TV entertainment programs are just that.
They are not documentaries of facts..
For that I watch NOVA and the Discovery channels.
