Artifact on dot.

I got a 5mW laser for cheap from LedShoppe. It's a great product for the money. I was just wondering what this artifact is on the side of the laser dot. It's hard to see in the photos but its very evident IRL.

Is it something that can be fixed or is it something with the diode itself?

It's most liley has to do with the lenses, if cleaning doesn't work then its a defect in the glass(or what ever material it is) and that isn't fixable.
