Argon And Dichros. (Pics.)

Yes, I know I'm spamming, but these are different pictures,so there:eg:
2214-40MLA outputing 75mW@8.6A. These pics. were taken at 5A, because it was blinding the camera (white-out)
Taken through a Dichroic Filter, a mirror, and 2 CD's
I have to work on my optics set up, without being able to make fine adjustments, setting anything up is a bear.

I believe these Dichro's. are dropping lines. I only see 4 lines in this latest set-up. I guess I'll have to look for some different Dichro's.
But it is hard to tell in these pics., and I did not pay attention to the number of lines, as I was photographing them.

Thank you, diachi! I went back and double checked the lines at lower current, as you suggested.
Here's a pic. of the lines at 3.6A, through a Prism. I'd say it is the Dichro. dropping lines. I bought them as "unknown AR glass" from Surplus Shed for $1.80 each.

Hmm, I've never seen dichros drop lines. Oh well, that argon is nice! Must be good having a proper remote for it

i dont know much about argon lasers but do they normally output all those different spectrums?

Yes, generally. The second most common is single line 488nm, then comes single line lesser gain lines like 514 or 457. It depends mostly on the mirrors used.

That's pretty sweet that your argon still kicks all 6 lines below idle current.. I have the exact same laser, mine being manufactured at the beginning of 04 and making the same output as yours, but mine only makes 5 lines at 3.9A. Did you pull yours yourself or did you buy it from someone else?

I made a trade with GreenM that included in person delivery to his door. He schooled me on a varity of topics- made me some VERY nice heatsinks in his custom machine shop= He finished up a bunch of builds I had barely started- and repaired a half dozen items I feared were gonners.:bowdown:

Wow!! Very cool. How big is the actual tube? Does the setup take much room?

they are big and heavy and take up a lot of room and create a lot of heat and WORTH all the hassle-- the head is about as big as T_Js forearm= PS about the size of two shoeboxes and the cooling fan + hose are big too. Dave(daguin) has a pix on his epic sale page.---hak

Here are some pics of the Argon. As Hak said they are big, noisy, put off massive amounts of heat, but seeing one in person will blow your mind!
No other laser I have seen, even comes close to the Awesomeness of a Multi-line Argon.

The green 514nm line of your laser seems to be very strong. On my ALC-60X, there are max. 9 lines, but the green 514nm line doesn't appear below 8A tube current.
