Well my trusty AW210 6x died today... it became an LED. I was hoping a fresh battery would fix her right but no luck. I figure it must have died from me 'pulsing' the laser on and off by holding the tail switch partially in. Oh well, the Dorcy will play host to an 8x next once I get the money for the drive. Since I have a driver sitting around doing nothing I guess I'll use it in my PHR penlight build.

Yes how many Ma was it running at, and by pulsing you may have caused some kind of inductance but I doubt it, it was prob just it's time.

I was running it at 230ma... probably a little too high for any kind of longetivity for that diode. I got a month and half out of it with run times running from a few seconds on and off to around two minutes on and five minutes off when doing burn tests. But the majority of the time it was on for no longer than 15 - 20 seconds. I was using an older version 2 flexdrive since my version 4 lavadrive died an untimely death by accidental short circuit to the host.

Hmm. It seems that the SF-AW210 diode has shown very inconsistent results.. I just hope mine survives at 160mA:undecided:

Yep, but money's real tight now so the 8x will have to wait. Fortunately I have a PHR that I can play around with for the time being.

you know i have five or six phr builds i use daily me and my kids
they are at 150 ma and put out about 135-140 mw i also have a 6x that puts out 180 mw at 200 ma the phr is the best bang for your buck diode out there

You know what else sucks, the version 2 lavadriver is too big for my pen host!!! So I have put the PHR back into the Dorcy host for now until I receive the new version 4 lavadriver that will fit. Strange how that PHR diode keeps making its way back to the Dorcy flashlight host. It must be a cursed diode LOL.
