593.5nm GB??

So I asked cni for a quote on the pen-style 593.5nm pointers. These are the black and gold ones, exactly like nova's x-series.

The price I was quoted for a 2-5mW model was 300USD, but that was assuming I was only buying one.

So I was thinking, I know there are a lot of people here that are wanting a good 593.5nm pen, and I bet we could get a better price if we buy a few at once.

At this time this isn't official or anything, I'm just curious as to who would be interested in doing this.

I have a pretty nice Vega, but for the right price and output power I would want 1 and so would one or two friends!   ;) ( for me, I would require at least 5+ mW, I know they have made some that peak this high and even a little higher)

$300 isn't too bad, but I'd certainly be interested in seeing what the rates would be for larger quantities.

Alrighty, I'm going to get a quote for 10. I'll update when I get more info 8-)

I'm going to order 1mW from DL after less than 2 week
price $289 fine for me
$300+$50 for TNT , UPS, DHL shipping  ;) , CNI dont ship with AirMail

The ones from CNI should average between 2-5mW, with peaks higher than that.

Even if the shipping is $50, 50 bucks split between 10 people is only 5 bucks each :)

This maybe a foolish question, but what makes them so good that they can chanrge 10x the price forsomething thats 1/10th the power of most other things on the market?

Unless by 'black and gold' you mean it contains about 20g of real gold in the construction!

If it's about stability you could always pick up a nice dx laser and heavily underclock it, that should increase it's life span by a few thousand years ;)

The difference between these and DX pointers is that these are 593.5nm, or yellow/orange. Yellow lasers aren't cheap compared to green lasers!

593.5nm is what we call yellow/orange around here, and is currently the most technically challenging DPSS laser.

DX are taking advantage of the least technically challenging DPSS laser, 532nm, and prudicing mass quantities.

Check out the  473nm DX DPSS laser, that's in between. http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.923

I am defiantly interested in this GB, but I won't be able to pay for a few weeks.

DX doesn't produce anything. They are simply a reseller.
