Snoctony has a 473nm crystals set on eBay for $270 if anyone was interested. Could be a nice chance for someone to create a DIY 473nm, although the overall process would still be incredibly hard.
Unfortunately the efficiency is not listed.

I think it is very expensive.

Hmm I hope wannaburn gets this, I would love to see him make a blue DIY !

last time i asked him using a 1w 808 pump diode the actual blue output would have been only around 20mW, i could be wrong on those figures cause it has been a while, and i was also shocked that using all that pump power gives out so little blue power in the end

20mW of Blue for 1 Watt of 808nm is a very high efficiency IMHO. Optotronics uses a 2.5 Watt 808nm diode and their highest output (For an RPL Handheld) is 30mW, but I've heard about a few of their lasers being 40mW+.

But a 5% efficiency rating is a nice figure for a hobbyist/DIYer.

i guess thats good... if the crystals were a bit less than id gladly try it, cause the 1w diode is fairly cheap, the only problem would be finding a driver for this... rckstr only does 420ma and this diode would require around 1200ma... if some1 here knows were to find a pen size driver for this i might give it a try...

Ask the dr or the rockstar-rckstr they may special make you one or heck they may already have one ::)

i asked about this once already, but Snoctony has sent me a link to someone in Europe who makes all sorts of micro drivers for different laser types and currents, waiting on pricing now...

it is also incredibly difficult to align the crystals
you may wanna grab a set of green first to make sure you're not wasting 270 bucks.

yeah i heard thats the hard bit with these green and blue lasers. the crystal has to be precise or it wont work.
