I think we need to put a notice at the top of each laser subforum, saying "Yes you need goggles. Please Read Why"

The post would suggest why you need them, why sunglasses and welding helmets are ineffective, and that you need a pair for everyone in the immediate vacinity of the laser pointer. It should also provied links to places to get them (e.g. survival lasers, o-like, etc).

This way we can cull the number of "do i need goggles" posts that appear on every subforum that expressly deals with lasers.

Yes. You need goggles!

thanks guys for your useful infomation i had remembered my friend gave me a pair of 532nm googles becuase he has a 500mW green laser.

i dont got a dog or cat. What would happen if i used a 10x magifer and pointed a 5mW red laser through it would the dot at the end become stronger?

magifer >> magnifier?

More intense - yes. You'll focus a beam to a smaller spot. Though the focal length will define the location of that spot.
More stronger - no. The laser is still 5 mW.

If anything it'd be less powerful. A magnifying glass, piece of acrylic, (water?), or any physical object light passes through, some energy is either reflected or absorbed.
