2x 18650's to much?

Sounds good. Anyway if you are worried about going over the voltage you can always get 3.2V nominal 3.6V fully charged Lipo's for the unit which would land you @ 7.2V fully charged but that would mean you have 0.2V before the unit starts dropping output if the specs he listed are correct.
