16340 battery 3V or 3.7V

hi guys
im going to receive my first laser soon and i was wondering wich battery i would choose between 3V or 3.7V because i heard that some lasers are better equipped with 3V because 3.7V is too high? and it could damage and shorten the life cycle of the diode or burn the driver?

is it possible that lasers need 1 x 16340 battery with 3.7V is safe and if the laser needs 2 x 16340 batteries its better to use 3V?

If it says 16340 then the voltage is 3.7V.
3V are used by CR123 batteries.

16340 and cr123 are similar except that one is a rechargeable (16340). Like a lot of different batteries they can be different sizes and with protection circuits can be longer.

There are also the differences in voltage. Most cr123 are 3 volt while 16340 can reach 4.2 volt at full charge.

Some lasers will be able to handle both cr123 and 16340 while others will only handle 123’s. The same can be said of different 16340’s some might handle one brand and not the other.

That looks like the data from laserbtb... if you got one of their HL models, you should get yourself a 16340 IMR cell.

You can buy them from lighthound, orbtronic, etc,. I would stick to AW if you got any of the higher powered models.

yes its the HL im getting
so 16340 IMR are better than 16340 li-ion?
people also say to avoid ____FIRE batteries (trustfire, uniquefire etc..)
are they really that extremely bad or are they still ok and useable

If you haven't already ordered this laser you might wait as theses a group buy in progress from them that will save you some money.
 
IMR batteries are li-ion batteries, they come in two varieties generally IMR and ICR, IMR supports a much higher draw, but has lower capacity. For the HL lasers stick to AW IMR batteries.
