Ok, first off I am near clueless when it comes to the anatomy of lasers.

This laser is a 125mw violet laser, I believe it uses the aixiz module(looks similar in pics) and its inside a coleman max. It uses Juice 3.6v CR2s.

The laser part works fine, however the focusing wont work at all. It is stuck at quarter size at about 3-4 feet. If I attempt to focus/unscrew the tip, it loses contact with the batteries.

Anyone have any ideas?

Is the lens bound up so that it turns the module/heatsink/whatever rather than threading in and out?

Have you added teflon tape or anything?

Post a picture to be sure, but I believe that the whole head should not be turning. Is there a smaller ring at the front of the laser?

Peace,

@trevor
I believe it is, if I understand your question correctly.
No mods have been done since I purchased it.

@daguin
Yes, there is a small silver ring that has female threads. It goes around a black male threaded piece.

So when you try and turn the "black male threaded piece" (this is the lens), is it willing to go either direction?

Have you tried using a flatblade screwdriver to turn the lens? There should be a slot on the end of the lens sticking out, if you have a standard full-threaded AixiZ lens.

You'll want to go counter-clockwise.

Thanks very much. It will now focus.
It appears I have to do it manually now by turning the lens itself and keeping the lens cap(silver adjuster ring) off.
If I try to put it on I lose my adjustment. Much better than before though.

Well, you could tighten the focus ring down on the lens and then thread the lens into the module.

How tight are the threads of the lens on the module - is it a custom module? Usually the focus ring is threaded on the lens far tighter than my Aixiz modules are willing to hold the lens.

Worked like a charm, just made sure the focus ring was super tight.
Thank you so much.
