I believe you are correct about the dent. Though I would rather see the hole enlarged as to not require the dent. I would still maintain the deduction because of the overall quality of the reflector and the plastic rings for the shoulder strap mounts.

I believe the key is to lightly scuff the contact point with sandpaper followed by adding a bit of flux. I use somewhere around 430 C (cheap variable dial iron). The extra heat is to melt the solder very quickly without heating up the battery too much.
