questions and concerns about the "5mw" greenie i have

No, specific goggles block specific wavelengths, so 532nm goggles would not block 405nm too well.

    Shoot The Moon !!!

Yes, even though you won't see a reflection off of the moon, you might see a few laser beams in the sky near you.

    Lpc836 ?

Yeah, if you run an LPC-815 at more than 420, you could be shortening its life...

Tiny red laser, visible on snow

Yes, I would use a green that is 5mw or less because they are much more visible than a red of the same power.

best cheap 200mw laser for burning

Don't bump old threads, please. If you didn't notice, this thread is over two years old. I would probably post your question in a new thread.

    Keeping batteries in laser pointers..

Yeah, they could leak. (usually not acid but electrolyte fluid) It's happened to me more than once, although not with a laser. I still leave my batteries inside, but not for more than a few months.

Do these pattern caps fit in my CNI pen???

Yes, measure the internal diameter of your pen and see if it is close to the diameter of the caps. (they won't be the same because of the threads)

my first build , your opinion ?

Yes, you could reshape the heatsink while still getting pretty good heatsinking. Of course, if the laser gets hot, you should turn it off so you don't kill your diode. If you run the diode at more than 420ma, then you are most likely shortening the life of your diode, so I wouldn't run it at...

my first build , your opinion ?

If you open up a dead computer, there should be a square heatsink (2 or 3 inches across) on a board, on a large chip that runs the entire computer. If you don't know what I'm talking about, watch this- DIY: Hack a Dead Computer into a Burning Laser! - YouTube With proper heatsinking, you could...

Do these pattern caps fit in my CNI pen???

I really can't tell you for sure, but they sure look like they would fit. Actually, to tell the truth, I would be pretty surprised if they didn't fit.

Orange reflection from a Green laser?

It would probably be pretty hard to get a ball like that. Copied from Wikipedia: "Otherwise, modern uranium glass is now mainly limited to small objects like beads or marbles as scientific or decorative novelties." Oh, also, fluorescence is what makes your white clothing seem to glow blue when...

red 2-5mW laser heads on Ebay, anyone use these before?

Yes, that's true, you are lucky if your laser works at all after blindly lowering the resistance. Here is a thread about pot modding: http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/pot-modding-faqs-40510.html "The vast majority of laser pointers available on the open market now are operating at or near the...

    Red laser module??

Look at this item that I found on ebay: 200mW 660nm 3.0-3.7V /Laser Diode Module/Red Laser Beam | eBay It is exactly like the green laser modules, and it comes from a seller that sells lots of laser stuff, so it is probably labeled correctly. Intresting, isn't it?

    Ultrafire U-501B Host

Those factors are all that anyone would probably look for in a host... except for functionality of course... Also, note that there are also places where you can buy hosts designed for lasers (although those are the hosts that are commonly found on finished lasers). Here is an example: Focusing...

    Very interesting laser simulation

All lenses work because of refraction! Also, did you know that mirages are also a result of refraction between hot and cool air layers?

    50mw 532 modules. O-like vs. DX?

No, the IR output is usually small compared to the 532 output, so your 532 goggles should do the job. Also, the IR stays near the main beam, so it shouldn't cause any problem (unless you point the beam near anyone's eye, which you should never do, because they could be getting some IR and not...
