    I'm guessing you're talking about power alone and not regarding the brightness For example 1W of IR will only seem as bright as a standard 5mW 650nm but it will do all kinds of bad to you :p

    You could also try purchasing a host from Ebay and press fitting a module in? It's pretty straight forward and you have dozens of combinations to pick from From there you can move onto soldering diodes to drivers and so on! We have it tough down here in Australia but it hasn't really stopped...

    Ok cool, Yep I've got it all taken apart and ready to go! I just bought some Drano gel just then so I'll see how it goes I suppose, Worse case is I lose a $6 light and I've got some spare Drano :p I'll make sure to update this thread with pictures and what not afterwards.. Then it's onto polishing!

    I might go ahead and use the gel if I can find some because I know that'll work non the less Should I worry about covering up the threads? I've heard in some cases it can eat through it? Also what do you suggest I put the Drano in to give the host a bath?

    Lab lasers have no limitations.. You can import, own and use lab lasers without any problems! Also my suggestion is if you have any doubt about building or selling your friend one I'd stay far away from it.. If you need money get a job or pick up more shifts :)

    I'd have to double check but if you're under 18 you can apply for a juniors license which will let you shoot under the supervision of a fully licensed person of the same category or someone approved by the firearms registrar. Of course it changes state to state but I'd imagine it's much the same
