the solder point on the chip broke off completely. as in no metal strip to solder to. So I dont know how to make solder stick to that point. Don't really care about it being a pen, I can use it in a stationary set up. and I can build a driver for it if i have to. at least i think i can.lol...

hate to break it to you and everyone but i bought they same 5mw one off of ebay for $12 shipped and everything. i will send email proof if you need it. and also they are built very cheap. as in with normal use mine lasted less than a week. Just my thoughts. as for the 20mw I do not know but...

so I bought a cheap green of ebay. And no big supprise that it broke. Questions. Is there a reason i couldn't get it to run off of a power supply besides batteries. How can i hook up the IR diode independently to test it? I tried just regulated supply and resistors? If my IR diode is dead...

How fast of a motor do I need if im just using a tilted mirror mounted on the output shaft to make it look good? 1000rpm? 10,000? any tips would be appreciated.

Do experienced forum members think this is a good laser for say a cheap scanner or lliquid sky effect. If i run it an hour straight will it suck? ie fade shutdown. idk what else. Can i mod it to run cooler? Thanks, micah

I just ordered a used 680 watt sharky fog machine on ebay for $40. Im thinking it will be way overkill for my dorm room but i will post an update on how it works when it shows up.

Re: solder iron  wattage Yeah, if you want to go cheap dont just go for high wattage. I got a $10 30w and it does the job fine (wouldn't go higher on wattage). But if you plan on doing lots of circuit board stuff then you will realize that using a more expensive iron gets the job done faster...

Well i was a little worried about eye damage using a more powerful laser. any thoughts? I mean like in a club type setting. Just keep it up in the air? cause i wanted the tunnel to stobe around. Hi, my name is micah. I think lasers are cool and want to build a laser tunnel and the liquid sky effect. Want to start off small and then do some more challenging stuff. I have ordered a 5mw red and a 680watt smoke machine.
