Here's my first try at a DIY red

With this battery I did all my testing on the breadboard, the pre assembly testing of circuit board etc, I've popped about 50 baloons, lit about 50 matches and the battery is still measuring 7.3V. If it keeps holding a charge like this, I might not ever need to charge the battery!!!

Here's my first try at a DIY red

I am using a triton electronic charger for my radio control stuff, it is designed for LiPo, lithium ion, lead acid, NiMh, NiCad and has a heat sensor as well. I just made a lead that will attatch to the charger and has the male connector to fit the battery connector

Here's my first try at a DIY red

Yes, it is a senkat diode. I ground down the things with a dremel, as well as cut the holes. I kept it down to around 180mA because of the bad press lately on the last batch of diodes, but gave the pot a slight turn this morning!!! I ordered the pot through a local electronics supplier, it is...

Here's my first try at a DIY red

I figured I'd do a box one for my first try. It works great, burns matches instantly at about 5 feet. I decided to go with a 7.2v lithium camcorder battery.

    AAAAAAHHHHHHH  !!!!!!!   Thanks Desslok

Re: AAAAAAHHHHHHH  !!!!!!!   Thanks Desslok I've got it tuned down to about 180mW might jack it up in a while and push the envelope, it's only a diode!!!

Re: AAAAAAHHHHHHH  !!!!!!!   Thanks Desslok Thanks Rog, I still have to set things up tonight so I will test the voltage with the diode in both positions and see if there is a dif between the two

Re: AAAAAAHHHHHHH  !!!!!!!   Thanks Desslok sorry to offend you. With all the new threads to read, im sure I was responsible for wasting 4 seconds of your time. If it is really an issue for you, I appologize and maybe should have posted it under my previous post. A few kind members were...

Can someone explain the diode in the DDL circuit?

    AAAAAAHHHHHHH  !!!!!!!   Thanks Desslok

Thanks for asking the diode question. I was having a problem the other night with voltage being higher than I liked, the ddl on 7.2v lithium thread. I couldnt adjust things to get below 3.14-3.17v without dropping my mV to the 50's. I just had the light go on!!!!! I think that I have my 1N4001...

Can someone explain the diode in the DDL circuit?

Re: Can someone explain the diode in the DDL circu I think I remember reading that it was to provide a 0.7v drop in voltage to the LD. Correct me if it I am remembering wrong. Ken
