    5A linear current regulator?

Oh I didn't think of that before! Good idea ;) this will probably be what I'll do.

    5A linear current regulator?

I'm not really fund of putting multiple regulators in parallel. The 5A driver which you have linked to does look quite good, but it seems to be a linear regulator. I'm looking for a Buck regulator instead. I indeed don't need the PWM. All I need is external analog current setpoint, and an...

    5A linear current regulator?

Alright, Thank you for explaining. Now I just need to find a suitable driver, which seems to be quite difficult. Do you have any idea where I can look for good drivers? I found single driver ICs for powering high power LED's from Linear Technologies, and Maxim, .. But these ICs are so damn...

    5A linear current regulator?

Oh so switching between full power and threshold has nothing to do with extending diode life time, or getting better diode performance; but only with driver startup? The application is an engraver, moving at slow speeds. I might want to switch the diode on and off every few 100 milliseconds...

    5A linear current regulator?

I don't really get it, if I use the enable pin, it also goes below and above threshold?

    5A linear current regulator?

Yes sorry, I was mistaking about the diode. It's power output is 5W. Electrical input is 10W (5A at 2V) I can use a capacitor with series resistor on a PWM output to acheive an analog output of 0-5V. Will that be good enough? If I take a large capacitor, there will be nearly no ripple, and I...

    5A linear current regulator?

The temperature of the MOSFET changes it's resistance drastically if the gate voltage is held constant, which makes this unusable :/ I went looking for buck converters which regulate a constant current, but I can't find any which can provide over 5Amps of current, and also has an enable input...

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

Alright I have received my 5A IR laser diode, and tested the glasses with this one. The glasses work perfectly, but not when looking through the glasses at steep angles. I haven't tried shining the laser directly through the glasses, and I'm also not planning to do this. All I tested was...

    5A linear current regulator?

I just received my diode and regulator; built the circuit and it works perfectly ;) The current through the diode is constant, and regulatable by changing the conductivity of the MOSFET.

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

I found an IR diode from a CD burner. The glasses indeed work great on them, nothing comes through. However, when tilting the glasses; almost all the light comes through? Or when the light source is not in front of me, but higher above, I can also suddenly see it. Is this normal?

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

Well yes, that's probably the case :) I'll take a look if I have some IR laser diodes laying around, and check if the glasses do work on them.

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

Just read on wikipedia that those IR diodes usually have a wavelength of about 940nm. Perhaps I should just wait until I receive the laser diode ;)

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

I'm using a regular camera which tends to pick up IR light. I don't know whether there is any filter built in. It's a Panasonic DMC TZ25 LUMIX. The glasses are rated for 808, 830 and 850nm. (OD5+). The diode is one from my TV remote controller. Do you think the glasses will start blocking the...

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

I just received the glasses, but don't have the laser diode yet. I tested the glasses with my camera, and an IR LED, but unfortunately they seem to let through all of the IR light?! The spot doesn't even look dimmer after passing through the glasses. Did I get scammed? These are 34$ glasses. I...

Does shining laser at protective glasses damage them?

Shall use this: But you are correct; somehow, stuff always tends to go wrong.
