    Daedal's new BluRay LASER

Looking good. I think 3x AA batteries (not rechargable) would be better and would certainly last longer. Not a great deal bigger in size but again lend themselves to a tube design. I'll get the red one made up and out the way and think about a blue.

    Pulse driver

I'm a new member too and I can use the search feature ;) Search for a member called ponzo, he was talking about it recently. It would be nice if this project actually came to fruition. Gah! i'll be happy when I can post links.

    Cheap IR testing method

Spot on, I knew someone would know. Congo blue and primary red Lee lighting filters (transparent not opaque) are 100% transparent to IR light. 4 layers of congo blue and 1 layer of primary red allows you to visibly see a small part of the IR spectrum. The blue blocks the red and the red blocks...

    Cheap IR testing method

I'll take that as a "I don't know what the hell you are talking about but won't say incase it makes me look silly" ;)

    Cheap IR testing method

I was just wondering if anyone has considered using the "4 congo blue and 1 primary red" method of viewing IR? It would give you some indication as the if your laser is well filtered or not.

    Possable Heatsink for Aixiz Module

You want to be careful with heatsinks, you really want the thinnest layer between the diode and the air, if it's too thick it won't shift the heat quick enough and have an opposite effect of what you are wanting. Personally I would point you towards heatsinks for the case style TO5 and TO39...

    how to make minimag video

I suspect most have been lucky because they have used rechargable batteries so running 2.4v instead of the full 3v.

    ThermoElectric Coolers (TECs)

Using TECs in low voltage "hardy" electronics is as simple as you say. Add power, sink the hot side, use the cold side. When they are used on CPUs you have to be very careful of condenstation and even icicles! CPU TECs are generally run full power so can promote ice formation in seconds. Within...

Power needed to Cut balsa wood

OR..... a $2 scalpel. Just because we have technology doesn't mean we have to use it.

    ThermoElectric Coolers (TECs)

I assume the TEC plugs into the motherboard instead of the processor cooling fan. That would mean it will be 12v. You could use a PC power supply quite happily and if you look around you can get fan controllers that use a pot to regulate the power to the fan, or in this case the TEC. You would...
