I was just wondering if anyone has considered using the "4 congo blue and 1 primary red" method of viewing IR? It would give you some indication as the if your laser is well filtered or not.

You want to be careful with heatsinks, you really want the thinnest layer between the diode and the air, if it's too thick it won't shift the heat quick enough and have an opposite effect of what you are wanting. Personally I would point you towards heatsinks for the case style TO5 and TO39...

I assume the TEC plugs into the motherboard instead of the processor cooling fan. That would mean it will be 12v. You could use a PC power supply quite happily and if you look around you can get fan controllers that use a pot to regulate the power to the fan, or in this case the TEC. You would...
