I was wondering, what should i know about this driver so i won't burn any other laser diodes with it?
One thing i know for sure right now is that, if i power the driver without the diode and then solder the diode on it, the cap will burn the diode. So i will have to discharge the cap, if i want...
Okay, i have sent them an email. So now basically i wait and see :p
But what about the diode, it is 13,5 USD with shipping, same as ebay :undecided:
Is there any cheaper?
So do you think that if i ask them, they will give me a new lense?
And by the way did the brass collar went all the way in the threads when you put the diode? Mine was off for like 2-3mm. But when i had no diode in the brass collar fitted perfectly.
I don't mean that the host looks like a flashlight. The ray looked like the light of the flashlight. Completly out of focus and uncolliminated.
To conclude, that was the module i was using and i am not satisfied at all :undecided:
The diode is now burned, i didn't know that i had to discharge the cap in case i desoldered the diode :/
The 10ohm@1/8w resistor was cool during operation though :)
So now i am looking for a new diode, and a new module. Any suggestions?
What if i connect the resistor which is 10ohm@1/8w with the other that is 1ohm@1/2w in series?
I mean, the resistance won't change that much, but what about the wattage?
So i am making my first driver for a phr-803t diode. The schematic says that i need to solder a 10ohm resistor but i doesnt say of what wattage. So i went to my local electronics store and bought a 1/2w one. When i got home i found out that the clerk put a 1ohm one instead of a 10ohm. Money...
I have seen your laser already while browsing the forum. You got quite a monster there, don't you? :lasergun:
Today i went and bought all the necessary components for the driver. I also got some shrink tube. It did a pretty good job!
So i was wondering if the goggles i bought are any good. I...
I don't think so. I made 3 attempts with the third one being the most successful. The diode came in contact with the soldering iron for about a sec in each attempt(while heatsinked in the module). So burning it isn't likely in my opinion. I said it took me about an hour because most of the time...
Update
Today, i decided that it was time to salvage the diode from the sled. All went smoothly. :)
Then this is where the nightmare began. Soldering the wires onto the pins without them touching the collar brass after i fitted it was not an easy task, but finally i got it right. So, as far as...
You most likely are right, i am in a rush right now and i want to get it done. But i suppose it is not right. I ll order the driver as soon as i refill my paypal account since i got like 3-4 dollars right now.
So how can i use the driver i currently have?
And is it ok to use the driver that is...
I have a multimeter, i don't know if it is suitable thought, i suppose that i ll have to measure the voltage and calculate the current from ohm's law. However my multimiter isn't very sensitive and would read values scaling by 1 for example the smallest value it can read is 1 volt and the next...
