I focus mine at 3ft but the diameter on the dot grows dramatically within a few inches. I would like to have a continuous small dot at long distances but cant seem to find the correct lens kit. Anyone on this thread know of any?
Update:
I installed the new driver set at 1.5a, it worked great for a while but eventually killed the diode. My wife says the newer version with the bigger driver looks like crap compared to what it was before the "upgrade". I completely agree with her though, I will post before and after photos...
Here are the completed images with it running at 650ma, I have an upgraded 3a driver and lens on their way!
Video soon with the upgrades!
Again the cycle time so far is just a guess, however with the extremely large driver heat sink its not an issue; I can keep it on for minutes with...
I now have everything in and am installing the driver into its heat sink, however I ordered arctic silver 5 thinking it would keep the driver stuck to the heat sink but I think I should have purchased the arctic silver thermal adhesive instead.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks, would it make a conciderable difference in the measurement between the two test loads? i may have to get a few of those to correctly test the newer driver. I appreciate the info!
Thanks, unfortunately one of the gold connections chipped off the driver, I did some tight space soldering but don't want to risk hurting the diode so a new one is on its way. Once it's in along with some thermal paste ill be able to bond it to the heat sink and get some shots up :)
This was...
Still not finished with the circuit or the cosmetics but its just to give an idea.
The battery is in the clip and is easily detachable and the safety works just like a normal gun. Also I'm hoping the gun will kinda turn blue when the laser is on.
Alright I have the driver set to 900ma, I tested it with the laser diode for a few seconds and it started flashing (I don't have the driver inside the heat sink yet so I figure a fail safe was tripped or it was just getting too hot).
Once I get the heat sink in place I'm going to finish the...
Lol yeah, I'm new to lasers, not electronics! :)
Then again I wouldn't be surprised to see them mixed up in a state of eagerness and impatience.. Haha!
