Ah alright, I just thought that it was strange that it grows so much within a few ft. Thanks ill have to expirement with what I can find.

I focus mine at 3ft but the diameter on the dot grows dramatically within a few inches. I would like to have a continuous small dot at long distances but cant seem to find the correct lens kit. Anyone on this thread know of any?

Update: I installed the new driver set at 1.5a, it worked great for a while but eventually killed the diode. My wife says the newer version with the bigger driver looks like crap compared to what it was before the "upgrade". I completely agree with her though, I will post before and after photos...

I now have everything in and am installing the driver into its heat sink, however I ordered arctic silver 5 thinking it would keep the driver stuck to the heat sink but I think I should have purchased the arctic silver thermal adhesive instead. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Why do you say ill get a small duty cycle? If so I'm going to add miniature fans for better cooling to see if it helps.

Thanks, unfortunately one of the gold connections chipped off the driver, I did some tight space soldering but don't want to risk hurting the diode so a new one is on its way. Once it's in along with some thermal paste ill be able to bond it to the heat sink and get some shots up :) This was...

Thanks! I wanted to make my own custom gun but I had this laying around.. So I got to choppin! Lol

Still not finished with the circuit or the cosmetics but its just to give an idea. The battery is in the clip and is easily detachable and the safety works just like a normal gun. Also I'm hoping the gun will kinda turn blue when the laser is on.

Thanks! The AS5 is Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste, one of the most commonly used thermal pastes it seems.

Update: I now have the correct tools to test the driver, I chose my host and have everything placed and am waiting on a 16850 battery holder. I purchased some AS5 to add a heat sink to the driver since its going to be running around 1.7a, but am having some issues on exactly how it should be...

Yeah my dmm only goes to 200ma, so I'm going to have to buy a new one, but the test load supplies are on the way.

So without the correct means of testing the driver I did get it to what my dmm reads as 9.1 at the "200v" with the wavy line over it.. It now has a faintly visible beam in the dark and does have a faint heat index that is not enough to burn paper. I am waiting for the diodes I purchased to...
