Somewhere over the rainbow...

Beautiful pictures. I was wondering what was going on in the second picture underneath the laser in the middle, I realised it was a reflction on the floor :P

HaHa - and there's another laser reflection in this image: between door and shelf

Some great stuff. You know I enjoy good beam shots.

:cryyy: I'm missing 3 colors....:cryyy: Not Fair!!! :na:

Nice beams

Is that the 635 5mW?

ROFL I had to electric tape a switch "on" just like you did...

Hope I'm not outta line or weird you guys out but.... Me so howrny!

This pics are really great! :kewlpics:

Its so strange how nearer the camera, it picks up 405 445 and 473 as almost the same colour!

all the reflections, beams and units are neeeeeaat!

Great, great pics!!

In this image you can see that two of the lasers (blue and yellow) had a beam (sort of) reflect back from the door.

I'm sure DJNY was wearing them, but this is why we push safety glasses; you never know if a surface you don't think is reflective will actually reflect!

I wore safety goggles most of the time, but I don´t have a pair for the 589nm wavelength. You´re right by telling that we should be aware of any possible reflections.

Damn dude, great collection you have there.
The yellow is gorgeous, amazing brightness for ~80mW

The 589nm wavelength is the brightest one I have seen next to 532nm. I think there is only 561nm in handheld which is brighter than 589nm. Aryntha has the only one.

Here is a chart with the optimal color explored by Wilhelm Ostwald

I´m gonna post two of his pics, so that people have the full available handheld wavelength spectrum in one thread.

(Hope Matt is ok with this :))

No problem Phi. :) I still have to do my own rainbow...

Remember though the camera doesn't see things with the same "curve" our eyes do...

Red is reflecting upper left as well.

AHAHAH! I dont have any money right now! but thanks for the heads-up!

And Aryntha said he didnt know whats the math involved into doin the 561nm laser, and at first i thought it was an OPO like the yellow lasers and not frequency doubling, but actually its just a 532nm greenie, exactly like our other handhelds...

differences?

It uses the less efficient 1123nm line from Nd3+ and doubles it to 561.5nm.

So the coatings on the "mirrors" for the Nd laser are for that wavelength instead of the 1064nm line. The pump diode must be the same as one used, lets say to a 100mW+ greenie.

Just dont know if the doubling crystal is the same as the 532nm greenies.

All the coatings are for 561 and 1123 instead of 1064 and 532!

guess its easy, no? ^^
