18650 batteries?

So I have just completed my first 445 build with a 4171 host, and a microboost,

and I was wondering, what are the specs of the 18650 I need to be looking for and what voltage and mAh are they?

Lol. I gave myself a pat on the back and said, "Good job, now you need to get yourself a 445nm laser." Which I plan to get. I am on the search for a pretty cheap one. Might get one from Flaminpyro. :drool:

I have built several hundred UV lights using #18650 batteries.

What I have learned, is to use "brand name" #18650 batteries only.

The failure rate of chinese clones is very high.

Cells from LG, Sanyo, Samsung, Sony, and Panasonic work reliably for long cycle counts.

Even though they are the major manufacturers of 18650 batteries,
none of them were tested in the CPF article you referenced.

For your 445nm diode you will need a hi-capacity 18650 cell.

I use 2600mah or higher in my Direct-Drive 445nm laser.

They are 4.2v when they are fully charged and then drop to 3.6v. DO NOT have them drop to 3.0v or they are un-useable.

Here in ROK we have 18650s up to 2700mAh. They pack quite a wallup and are used to make batteries for high end airsoft!

i ordered a few from different sites. i now have a 2800mA, 2 2600mAs and 2 2400mAs lol. they didnt even specify what current rating they would be before i bought them, seems random. the 2400mA ones are actually probably the best quality since i got them from a UK site that specialises in flashlights. the 2600mAs came from deal extreme, the 2800 came with my laser (well, 3 weeks after the laser) from o-like.
