hi all
i have a problem with my canon MV950 digital video camcorder.when i set the camera to save videos and pictures in the momory stick i can't record any videos or take pictures and it says that the "the card is set for erasure prevention".how can i fix that? please help me!

EDIT:the card is brand new i just take it out of the case.but i don't think the problem is because the card is new.the same thing happend and with my other memory stick.

LOL, the card is locked. Take it out of the slot and look if you've moved the slider to "lock" position.

I've always wondered what that was for, i never touched is as i was always afraid it would erase the card or something horrible

Read the instructions that came with the card & / or your camera on how to fix that particular problem !!!............rob

it doesn't says anything about this.i had a problem with the screen and after when i fix it it starts this problem.maybe the guy that i take my camera to fix it change something?

Go to the MENU screen on the camera, under "TROUBLESHOOTING" you may get a clue there.........rob

Then scroll through the menu for ANYTHING that might help you with your problem. Are you SURE there isn't a troubleshooting guide in the back of your camera manual ?.....rob

i will check again and if i don't find anything i wil take it small repair to the "experts".

Have you tried with a different card, just for check that is not the card that is defective ?

It's very possible that you're moving the slider to the "lock" position when you put the card back in, I've heard this is a common problem with some people (and camera's tricky slot).

Also, some lock sliders just break and stay in the lock position forever. Try going back to the store and have other cards tested there.
One more thing, try the card you bought on another device and see if it works there.

If you go on GOOGLE 7 in-put CANON MV950 troubleshooting, there is a site where you can download the entire manual for your camera. It's nicely broken down by sections, including the one you're having trouble with.........rob
