Frankenstein copper heat sink for sxdv3

So I found these cool little mini heat sinks (4pack) (15mmx10mm) on Amazon that would fit a sxd perfectly, but I figured since I have the space in my housing why not go bigger right? So I harvested a copper pad from a laptop heat sink that still had some solder on the back and was pretty flat.

So I lathered all 3 of the heat sinks with flux lol and joined them all together making it a 3 piece “Frankenstein heat sink”. Does anyone know of a safer way to hold 2 18650’s in series for wiring because I heard that nubm44 diodes are not case neutral so I can’t ground the cells to the host and use a click button setup right?

This is only my second laser pointer build. Hah I have successfully killed 3 nubm44 diodes and 2 amazon lasers before I learned about constant current drivers, amps, voltage and testing dummy loads. I have to send a shout out and thank you to DTR lasers he makes some great laser equipment. I know that was a lot thank you for reading.

This second build is very interesting, with its original name, but it's missing the two side bolts Otherwise, what kind of Frankenstein is it? You can see two + and - wires on the back coming out of the tube. Are these the wires for the ON/OFF switch? If so, there must be some sort of blank battery contact board, otherwise, where do the two lithium cells open the contact to make the laser shine? The same question applies to the Nubm44 V2 tube build. And anyway, you said you just signed up. I see December 31st in your profile, but in one photo there are references to Burnett Unlimited. You yourself said in the tube build post, "I'll buy a diode from you someday or something similar!"

The gray heat source detection gun, and especially the black FLIPPER ZERO, what does this have to do with the world of lasers? Do you use it as a TESTER? Connecting the various wires to a micro-perforated plate? Or do you do something else with it?

Yeah, the two holes in that copper plate are just they had rivets and I ended up drilling the rivets out and I just left the holes like that because I didn’t wanna I couldn’t find a heat sink that was slightly larger than what I had originally bought on Amazon those 10 mm x 15 mm heat sinks so I took two of those and I combine them together and I took that other copper plate the one with the holes in it. It had solder on the back of it and I used flux and then heated up with the torch and soldered them all together as a three-piece heat sink and as for the wires, you probably saw that yeah they were just I hadn’t. I didn’t have a driver for the laser host in that picture but now I do that laser. I actually was putting it together and I ended up cross threading the threads on the back. Knob and had to use a pipe wrench to take it off and it’s all scratched up now so that sucks.

Oh yeah I guess I’ve been building lasers for like I don’t know like a year now maybe two and I have known about Barnett up until recently when I bought I think I bought a beam expander from them and I bought my SXT driver from DTR so I kind of send them messages on eBay here and there to update them on my bills and they’re really nice. They respond so that’s why I always send a shout out to them and make YouTube videos too. Yeah my NUBM 44 that was I got that dial because you know at the time it was the most powerful dialed around I guess but now I want to do a Z 80 laser diode and I wanna get a mini six amp driver, but I don’t know it’s all gets kind of redundant after a while. You know it’s all just money these lasers they just cost money money money, but I enjoy it

I understand, functional and intelligent build I repeat, but you didn't answer two of my specific questions, what is a Flipper Zero doing in the photo? Even if it's black, I think you painted it black, since it doesn't exist in black, so what exactly are you doing with it? The little hacker? Or do you use it as a tester with its white micro-perforated plate? I bet you flashed the Momentum firmware inside it, right? Be careful what you do with it, it's not a toy, even if it looks like one! I also asked you what you need a temperature gun for, do you use that to evaluate the power emitted by your homemade pointers? And finally, I asked you, did you use a blank battery contact board and solder the two + and - cables to it, which in turn are connected to the SXD DTR driver?

sorry about that, my flipper zero is definitely black and I did not paint it, it’s a rare color I know. I got it a few years ago. I don’t do much with it I just like to open my Tesla door for fun. I have the new unleashed software flashed on it now. I use my laser thermometer for the red laser to play with my cat and to check the temps on my drivers and heat sinks n what not. I actually electric tape my + - contacts with wires no soldering. I did do all the soldering on my sxd driver. I just finished another nubm44 copper laser pointer I’ll send you some pics I just finished it tonight.

Yes, I know, I just saw it and commented! I didn't know there was a totally black version of the Flipper Zero, but flashing the "Momentum" software is the best, it unlocks everything and more! You won't regret it, trust me, let me know! Don't like soldering? Do you still use electrical tape? There are also solutions like this, clean work and no fumes around.
