Polishing standard laser pen host

Hello guys.

I just tried to polish my pen style host for a future build.

It is nice, goldish, shiny.

Do i neet to treat it somehow, will it corode? I dont know what material it is, i am sure someone tried it before..

Any sugestion?

Yea its brass, I do not know in terms of treatement, the oil in your fingers may have already started corroding the metal, I've heard of some success coating the metal with a clear coat.

A few options, you could clear coat or get an at home gold plating kit. Other than that a can of Brasso to remove tarnish as they age and are handled.

*Edit:

A thin coating of mineral oil, linseed oil, or WD-40 Multi-Use can be effective in preventing tarnishing.
