^Sold!

Now have one left pending with the murder fund. There's a chance that may not go through and if it doesn't, then it will be back up for grabs.

Fund is coming through, it's as good as sold :D

I'll send payment when it's all in.

In order to keep things safe and fair you should donate your shares in the giveaway to me. This is really the only option, all things considered. Two 473nm diodes being built into laser is simply too much awesome to contain. I wouldn't want you to be killed in some sort of explosion caused by too high a concentration of laser awesomeness in your room.

:na:

Well I am building Raffle's, and if I win, I'm building mine.

So hopefully I will build 2 of these, the first two 473nm diode lasers. If anything it will be awesome to build and see one closeup :)

Would be cool to have this for SELEM though. Too soon though :(

Just joking around :p

I know a 473nm pointer would be an exception, but is it generally acceptable to bring some pointers to SELEM? I thought all those projector guys would be scoffing at you for such a thing.

If it's unique, I don't think it really matters. I talked to someone that was big over at PL, and hasn't even seen or heard much of anything about the PL520. His mind was blown at my 120mW 589. So I am bringing those two, as well as my two smaller ML HeNes.

I don't think they hate pointers - just the masses of idiots (idiots with eyewear, plane idiots, pointing it at people ect.) who use them and bring a bad name to the laser hobby.

Talked on the phone with Greg (Displaser at PL) for about an hours and a half. He explained it as a rivalry, but not a violent one. We throw our jests and our jabs, but in the end we are all hobbyists.

It's sort of like a sibling rivalry. We get along, but there will always be tension. Nobody hates one another except the truly grumpy, salty folks.

EDIT: The guy on PL wants me to build his 473nm's as well. How do you feel about a beamshot with 5 473nm direct diode blues? ;)

The guy with the diodes over at PL wants me to build his 4 diodes into portables.

I am very excited to have the opportunity.

Looks like there are going to be about ten of these DIY 473nm portables in the world. I can't wait to see what hosts everybody chooses! I'm already freaking out about building mine because these are the most expensive diodes I have used. Who knows how sensitive they are... :(

@Bloompyle That's so incredible that you'll get to have 5 in your hand at once...I'm jealous. :D Do you have any idea on the hosts you will use?

I am wearing 2 esd gloves when I work with these, lol. I just hope I can get one.. I might buy one of his when I make em, but for $600? Yikes.

I can't wait to get started, these will be so cool! Honestly, he wants to keep it simple. He wants a single 16340 host with a boost driver. He hasn't decided whether he wants custom machining, or a refurbished flashlight.

I'd feel so chipped if I showed these off and got nothing for it, lol. Really interested in a 488nm diode though, kinda more than these, but I wouldn't complain if I had both ;)

One of these would be nice. They have a good heft, and a solid steel clicky. Mechanically speaking, it's very well built. The electronics/driver contact/pill suck though, so don't expect to reuse that part of it.
Smallsun ZY-C01 Stainless Steel Cree Q5-WC 3-Mode 190-Lumen LED Flashlight (1*16340) - Free Shipping - DealExtreme

Not a lot of room to work with, but I've already made a laser in one of them, fixed focus heatsink & microboost drive. Can provide heatsink dimensions if you want.

Would be my choice for a 473nm build.

PM me those details, I will send that to him.

Told him I already have a few powerlight B50's. Maybe I can use these two for 2 diodes, and the other 2 can go in those. All up to him.

Soo... how long will it be before LPF has a B/S/T thread for a 473nm diode handheld laser? :D

It probably won't be long :D One of my buyers backed out so now I have three diodes. I think I'll build them all into pointers and sell a couple of them.

I am interested in one, but it would be a while unfortunately. Too much is happening at once for my budget to handle *sigh*.

I wouldn't want it in a host as I have one already set aside.

However, we'll see how the giveaway goes :)
