Ok, so I tested a few in my 445 build.
Aixiz acrylic(slightly enlarged aperture. not completely), aixiz glass, aixiz glass 405/445, and 405-G2.

Data:
acrylic - 52.5 mw
aixiz 405 - 47.6 mw
aixiz glass - 51.8 mw
405-G-2 - 60.0 mw

only the G-2 has the expected result. the rest seem to go opposite of what it should be.

Data2:
acrylic - 105 mw
aixiz 405 - 101 mw
aixiz glass - 105 mw
405-G-2 - 122 mw

Results still look the same.

Seems disappointing that both are no better then a plastic lens.
I read somewhere that some of the aixiz 405 units were improperly manufacuted or something. Can this be the case?

I used a lasercheck for this test. I know its not the best meter but it should be valid for this test right?

Also my G2 is not an aixiz thread. so I could not screw it in as far as it needed to be. however as u can see its already higher then the rest. If it went all the way it would probably measure even more.

I would not doubt that the largest difference is seen when you are at a much higher power. The problem with the acrylic is you can't use it on the higher power diodes because it will burn/melt. This would cause the output to drop and indicate lesser performance. The test's I saw used a mW output closer to 400-500mW

47-122mW is pretty low when compared to 400-500mW

I've seen very similar results with my Aixiz plastic, 405 glass, and 405-G-1 lenses. My plastic aixiz lens always outperforms all of my other glass lenses besides my 405-G-1 lens. I used to think all my other glass lenses were crap, but now I think the aixiz plastic lens is just amazing. Positive thinking my friend.

GMH;

The Aixiz 405 and glass lenses have 3 elements in series.

If the coating is not correct, that would give lower outputs that you experienced.

The Aixiz 405 should easily outperform the plastic lens in your 445.

high-there have been mix-ups. What color is the tint on the 405 lens, GMH?

hmm, its hard to tell but looks like the 405 has a blueish pink tint. depening what angle i hold it.

the 650 glass lens looks like pink/gold tint.

Well I guess thats the positive way to look at it.
However I did spend good money on a "high performance" part and its performing worse then a stock part.

Looking at Jayrob's tests it seemed worth it. Still is as long as its to spec, which mine probably aren't.

GMH--you need to read all the data in Jayrobs lens thread- and look at the photos-- you are making some incorrect assumptions.
If however AFTER reading you still think your lens is not right- email AixiZ and they will replace it. They have 3000 correct ones in stock atm.

good luck--hak

The 400-455 glass only outperforms(15% +/-) the standard $5 aixiz glass lens and/or the glass lens made for red diodes-- NOT the acrylic(which can/will melt) or the aixiz 405(now replaced premanetly by the 400-455 FT glass lens)

The correct glass lens has a slight 'gold' color--see the photos.

You need to look at the color of the reflections.

^^^ exactly-- and do this with a piece of white paper under it- not you hand.

Yeah, sunlight is best for this... but the reflection should be yellow/gold, NOT blue. If it's a blueish reflection, it's a 650 lens.
