I am looking to buy a test load from someone or somewhere that has it in stock. It would need to work with bluray and Red Diodes

Thanks

Just go to radio shack and get 3 or 4 N14001 diodes and a 1 ohm 1 watt resistor. Solder them all together and place your probes on either side of the resistor. 1mA = 1 mW :) Do a search and you'll find a diagram.

Where do I get a 1 ohm resistor? And 6 diodes from the same website?

(The source (Canadian radioshack) sells 2 diodes for $4! And they don't sell 1 ohm resistors.)

I use one or two of those Cree style lights removed from host flashlights.
Adjust the voltage as needed with a 1N400x diode.

No, I'm not selling anything right now... I don't really have the time to build and mail out things until after my exams.  I'll probably resume on Nov 24th.

This is the only resistor I found on RS's website which is 1 ohm, though a bit overkill at 10W.  It's also 10% tolerance, which means your measurements may be off by 10%, which at 100mA, could be as much as +/-10mA, if you assume its value is 1 ohm.  If you measure the actual resistance (though most multimeters are not very accurate at low ohms), you can more accurately calculate, but it really may not be necessary for your needs.  I typically use 5% tolerance (higher precision high wattage resistors get pricey), but most I've seen are pretty consistent in their resistance anyway.

Here's the diodes, a 25 pack of various 1N00x-series.  You can mix-match for the most part, the different numbers are for their maximum rectified voltage rating (no significant changes in their forward voltage drop).

I'm not sure if RS Canada also offers these items, or not, though Artix.
