I'm new to the laser hobby and the forums and just looking to finally purchasing my first laser after about a week of reading around the forums. I have looked at actual sellers o-like and rayfoss, but I think I'd rather have a laser that I know is well made and up to spec and will last a while so I figured what better place than here seeing as a lot of people on this site have meters and such for verifying specs. I'm looking for the best I can get for $130 shipped or so preferably in Green or Violet. I'm leaning more towards violet though. Hope to find something here and stay a member for a long time on this awesome forum. Also it would be shipping to US east cost.

Contact Jack at Optotronics and get yourself a 100mW premium green pen.
Many members own these, they are almost always overspec.
This is a great first laser, it has impressive power, nice beam characteristics and it's solid.
You will be able to see the beam outside if it's cloudy, and in a moderatly lit room. No smoke or fog needed. :cool:

I think GR3EN is looking for a more powerful laser, not a $15 pointer.
Also, swimminsurfer256 already sells these right here on the forum. He also power tests it for you.
 
Well he did say "First".
It's up to him, but if he did have extra leftover money from buying a 'more powerful one', why not have cheaper and safer ones. Maybe for showing friends who wouldn't have protective glasses on for those 'more powerful ones'

You get the best of both. (Green AND Violet)

It says it's rated at 5mW but many of the LPF members have many of these from the same seller and say its well overspec.

On the plus side: It's cheap and it's on the east coast of US.

i decided to go ahead with these actually. I just ordered them. what's the average output of these from this seller would you say?
