Want to see what is the setup for the widest beam on red, green, and blue handheld laser pointers. Or do I just want anything that has adjustable focus? Thanks

Widest? For what application? Try removing the lens and just use the raw output. That will be about the widest beam possible.

Sweet

Sounds good. If a 2000mw blue laser is unfocused will it still burn stuff? I want a blue laser that is bright, but can be used indoors. With laser glasses of course. I'm shopping on lazerpoint.com lookin at a purple a red and a blue what is a good power range....note: I don't want to burn anything, not yet anyway :)
Thanks

if you dont want to burn stuff get no more than 1 to 5 mw.
that way you wont need glasses and it is still safe if focused to a dot.

It shouldn't burn anything if unfocused. Note that those "focusable" lasers don't make a wider collimated beam (i.e. a straight parallel beam), but rather affects how the beam spreads from the aperture. If you want a fat "beam" you'll need a beam expander.

what are you telling him 2000mw blue shouldnt burn if it is unfocused.
it is still very dangerous and it WILL BURN YOUR EYES if it is unfocused.
if you want a fat beam get a line generator lens for it

um... I think even if unfocused, 1W will burn, well, maybe not burn, but will at least melt some plastic bags ?

sorry i should have made that clearer.
It will still burn if unfocoused at close range but it will not burn at anymore than close distance unless you look straight at it because at that power it will BURN your eyes.Remember the job of your cornea is to focus any light that it recieves so it will do the same with laser light.
As previously stated if you do not want to burn stick to low power lasers and get a line generator lens that replaces the normal lens on your aixis module. That way there is no risk and you dont need to wear glasses.
Of course do not take the word of sellers that there lasers are low powered unless they have been metered or are from a reputable member from here.

Always buy lasers from known companies with good reputations. Next time buy from laserglow.

You didn't ask

We're not psychic....

Jetlasers, Laserglow, Optotronics, Lazerer, O-like, Rayfoss, in order from great (first three) to so-so.
