Why is red cheaper than green

Why are red lasers less expensive than green? Does green require some resource that is more rare?

red lasers are simpily a laser diode and a lens, a green laser is is high powered IR laser diode, 200mW for 5mW of green, 2 rare crystals to convert the IR into green, and 2 lenses instead of one. its just a more involved process, which means more cash. and green looks better, things that look better always cost more

plus green is newer.

if you look at it, red went down in price, now green is going down, and blue exists, so eventually green will be cheaper and blue will be the new expensive... then yellow, and them who knows!

Yellow is already cheaper than blue...dangit - I don't wanna wait that long for blue to go down in price !!!!

For some reason :-? yellow was never extremely expensive as all the other were at there reslease. I think this is becasue the research that went into making blue produced yellow as a side product and it happens use less expensive crystals. Anyway, I may be getting a yellow some time soon, I hope in the next month or so. I really want a blue as you all do, but $300 for a yellow really pushing my limit for lasers as it is. :
