Hello. I have a Red laser 650nm at 475ma in a host and I am using Energizer Advanced Lithium AAA's in it and it has worked fine with almost 2 hours of ON time so far. I highly recommend the Ultimate E2 lithiums from energizer also as they are even longer lasting.

low self discharge NiMH's are the best quality/price ratio choice.

Nah, I think carbon-zinc are worse than alkaline.

So far from my testing energizer e2 lithiums are the best, a bit expensive but i think they end up being cost efficient through their high capacity. I feel like my single AAA lasers work better with lithiums than with alkaline.

If you really want alkaline though go with these batteries
