hey, my friend recently came back from honk kong and got me a green laser. it is supposedly 50mw (thats what the sticker says) but it only takes ONE 1.5v AAA battery, most lasers if not all that i have seen take 2.

would the laser work with 2 AAA batteries? id connect the second one by some wires, because obviously they wont fit in the case. or at least work with a voltage higher than 1.5, like a 3v AAA.

cheers :)

I suggest you to avoid this experiment ..... lasers that works with only one AA or AAA 1,5V battery, usually uses boost drivers, and these drivers are normally designed for work just for that voltage ..... if the boost driver is not designed specifically for work with a different range of input voltages, you risk to fry it .....

If it uses one battery, then that's all you should use.

You can always buy another laser. You can get a LEDShopp 50mW laser for under $25. I'm sure it will be 10X better than what you have now.

alright thanks. i suspected something like that, but wasnt sure because being a cheap honkkong laser i thought it might just be a stupid design flaw to make it fit 1 not 2 batteries.

i wont risk it though, to get another laser would be really hard considering over 1mw is illegal here in australia.

You can buy and import modules I believe. Then get a host flashlight, heat sink, and build yourself a kick ass laser. All the info is here, and we have a good amount of ossies here too.

Spizza... If you want high powered lasers, made then shipped within Australia (totally legal) PM me. I live in Sydney.
