....Or how to ruin hours of work  with a moments stupidity.....
I closed this up before the glue was completely dry, it has fogged the mirrors :-[

For what it is worth here is a short video

....Try again, this build cost me 2 senkat reds as well so all in all it was a bit depressing when I realised what I had done....

You should have been a watch maker ;D
I try to use UV cure glue around optics so I don't have the fuming problem.

I have just tried the video in windows media player, it takes a while to buffer but it comes up eventualy.... If others report problems with it I could try a different format.

It was just such a stupid thing to do, I know the problem with super glue and I used just a couple of drops to tack the bounce mirror in place, Will a blu-ray cure that adhesive mike?

another cool idea from rog +1

I don't think it is worth trying to rescue this one, I have noticed people selling inners for these lighters on ebay, I may just try again and maybe learn from my mistake :'(

Rog --

Go to your dentist and ask for "expired" adhesive or a near empty bottle. Keep it cold in the fridge. Yes, I use my 180 mW 405 to cure it in about 5 seconds.
I'm lucky, my oldest kid is a dentist !!!!!

Mike

Brother inlaw and nephew both dentists, I feel a phone call coming on, thanks for the idea.

If you wanted you could try some windex on a cotton swab to try and clean the glue off the mirrors - might be worth a shot :-/

Windex and stuff like acetone can help dissolve the superglue

Hey what kind of motors did you use?
1 was a 5mm dia (rubber covered) the other 7mm dia vibro motors without the weights.

No room to get at the mirrors sadly, the gap where the beam comes out is to the right of the switch on the photo below.

... Ah-ha! The Tiny build you were on about!! ;D

Have you bought a job-lot of those lighters Rog?!

Nice though!!!

Pity about the fogging. I'll have to remember that myself.

Don't know if it's my media player but I couldn't see the pattern. It's a 2 motor jobby, right? So it must be the pattern I'm thinking it is.

What size are the mirrors? Are the motors connected directly to the batteries or are you running a driver for them? Power source?

Small is beautiful.

Good show!

M :)

yes, 2 motor, the pattern is visable close up but is all fuzzy so at a distance is just a blur

What size are the mirrors?
1st mirror is 8mm dia, second one is 7mm dia

There is an LM317 driver in there for the senkat red LD, the motors are part of the circuit.... they run from the ref voltage ;)

Power source?
GP A10 9v, just like the laser lighter.

I have got most of the bits together to redo this..... I will not be making the same mistake again.
