Square laser diode into Aixiz module? Can it be do

Hey I'm trying to build the MXDL flashlight laser mod but have run into a few problems. Is there any way that I can fit my square laser diode into the aixiz module so that I can continue on with my project? If the diode is no bigger than the diameter of the aixiz module you might be able englare and cut the hole on the back of the module to the shape of the diode using a dremel and press fit it in there by using a vice.

It is possible to mount it in front of the aixiz module, but you would lose heatsinking.

It would be much better to make your own mount on a piece of metal with the collimator centered in front of it. I actualy had to do something similiar, when i couldn't get a normal diode out of the heatsink it was soldered into. The laser worked very good and was putting out 186mW. But in the end i managed to remove it and put it into a regular aixiz module.


It would be a lot of work, and in the end it probably wouldn't fit into the flashlight.
