bottom line, im buying qute a few lasers from overseas from a number of different sources. I would really like to know how much power these particular lasers are putting out.

Im willing to either buy a tester, (forgive me for not knowing the right technical term here, but i do know there are meters that can measure both the IR and intended wavelengths) or someone that can test some samples for me.

drop me a line if you are interested, but I will only ship samples of my lasers to people on this forum with a good track record. (scammers can go sit n spin')

Im willing to pay via paypal, or trade lasers for the purchase of a machine, or for the testing of lasers i ship to you.

thanks

Ive had my LB-I for over 2 years and only have good things to say.
On the other hand, I have not purchased from kenom, so no opinion there.

I like kenom meters now, was never really a fan of the display prior.
Might just have to get one to make the comparison of every day use,
leaving it running 24hrs a day for a couple of years etc...

For what the OP seems to need it for, an LB-I is a good choice and
less than half the cost of kenoms pro meter.

if no one nearer will test them for you, i would. that is, if you decide im not a scammer because my rep isnt huge. but, im not gonna try and convince you, after all, it'd me be doing you a favour and not the other way around :p

it did occur to me to mention that quite a few members have my address though.

im waiting on a kenometer pro, when it gets here i would be happy to do it free of charge (not including shipping of course)

Nanometer,

Just a suggestion, find a trusted and long term member, with good reputation, to act as a "middle person" so s/he would verify the you are sending what you are saying that you sending. Have that middle person ship your laser to the person doing the metering for you, who will then send the back to the same middle person to verify that you are receiving back your lasers. Both persons should agree who if going to represent them as middle person.

Also, make sure you provide the batteries to use in each laser and that are fully charged.

That middle person should be paid for, at least, shipping the lasers, and any requested compensation.

I own a three LPMs, one reads from 0.003mW to 10mW, another from 1.0-15.0mW and a Kenometer USB, with a reading of about 2mW to 5Ws (I am very impressed with the accuracy and it's working range. I highly recommend it).

I will be more than happy to meter you lasers, but I would like for you to select the middle person. Also, keep in mind the you are in Chicago and I am San Diego.

What I can provide you is a chart for each laser with a running time of 3 minutes (more or less, whatever you request) and a spreadsheet with the actual data.

The question would be then, how many are looking into being measured? If it is in the hundreds, get yourself a LPM! :D

I have had nothing but a good experience with my Laserbee II 3.2W. I do hear the Kenometer 5W's are good as well. Either one should be a good solution for your needs.

FWIW if you are going to be metering anything over 1W, the Kenometer USB goes up to 5W and is priced very well.

hmmm, seems like these things are about $200
Im getting about 100 5mw lasers later this week, but really cant justify purchasing something of that cost........ I mean, most of the time, all i need to know, is if the lasers actually light up and function.

I would love to know which of the manufacturers and suppliers are providing me the most accurate assessment of their products quality.... however.... if im just spot testing a few here and there, it makes sense to have someone else do it. if i do it at all......

If you plan on being in a business dealing with lasers, it is a justified cost.

It will cost you more in the long run to have others test. If you only plan on testing a few, remember the output varies from batch to batch of lasers.

If you dont want to spend the money, than you can try this http://laserpointerforums.com/f42/diy-thermal-lpm-under-50-a-51129.html

Get a red laser, have that tested by another member, then calibrate your DIY.
That meter will be close enough even if calibration is slightly off, and should suit your needs..

If you measure Lasers under 200mW.... you could have a look
at this....
