Well my S-ky IR was delivered today. Very impressed with the build quality very solid and very heavy. It has the full works as far as safety features. Front shutter, LED indicator, key switch and dead man dongle on the bottom. It runs on one 18650 battery that is not supplied but very easy to get. They supply a charger and a nice box for the laser battery and charger to fit into. This laser has an extra feature of an adjustable focus with a locking ring. All in all it is a very neat and well built unit.
Unfortunatly I think divergance on 808nm diodes is been vastly understated. Even with the focus ring I can only get it to a point at about 3 feet. At infinity the beam is a good 4-8mm and diverges extreamly fast probly a 4-5 mrad very hard to measure when you cant see the beam. As this is an IR bad beam specs were expected. I will say this I have never had a laser that starts to burn before I can even find the focal point. This thing is insane it cuts tape almost instantly. I cut a leter out of a foil bag of chips in under 2 sec. Gotta really be careful with paper as it will start to ember and burn on its own instantly.

Probably better that it diverges so much, you wouldn't want to spark up the Home Depot down the block by accident! ;D

nice purchase mate.
can u see the dot at all in daytime and can u see it from over 10 meters away at night?
i wonder what kinda distances u could caine balloons from with this thing.
 
Well even with the focus it still has a nasty divergance. but for close up it just cuts stuff to bits. You can make out the dot a bit but havent had a change to try in daylight yet.

note to self dont point at dark paper or newsprint :o
 
WOW nice laser there Lorgar! Try getting a webcam or just any other camera, you can see the IR easily then. IR lasers are fun in the way you can shine them onto something, and only the person with the camera can see it ;D ;D

I don't think looking at that dot is very healthy, lol :D But nice laser though, I wish I had one....how much was it again?

Lorgar, What is the other gold ring that came in your box ?(above black charger in your first picture)
Oh, wait, is that just the tailcap??

OOps, ya ok, i can see that it is now, thought they sent you an extra lens cap or something..
