Hi Everyone,

I figure it'll be interesting to see how many of us have these superb series of lasers made by Optotronics. Those of you who own one (or more), please chime in and give us details (and pics!). I'll start:

Just got this TOTALLY AWESOME laser yesterday:

Model: RPL-425
Wavelength: 532nm
Beam Diameter: 1.47mm (measured ~25mm from aperture)
Divergence: 0.905 mrad (full angle measured 30' from aperture)
Beam Roundness: >93%
Peak Output: 511 mW
Average Output: 442 mW

I absolutely love this laser! Kicks the crap out of my previous laser: an Opto 150+ green pen laser (which is awesome in itself). Here are some pics:

Here's a pic of the beam in broad daylight, indoors. The beam is clearly visible in person, just as depicted here:

When it is dark, the beam is infinitely more visible and extremely impressive....I'll try to get some dark pics out sometime. Last night, I had a lot of fun beaming the clouds overhead. The spot, clearly visible even on the upper cloud levels....it was quite an amazing sight and I'm sure the entire city was able to clearly see the beam.

Anyhow, looking forward to hear others!

How do you like your beam expander? Can you burn easier with it.

And thanks for the pics! Looks amazing. Such low divergence too

The beam expander is TERRIFIC! I suggest that anyone who owns an RPL (or equivalent) should get one. It gives you a lot of flexibility (which means a lot more fun). I can focus the beam down to a tiny point at a distance....which definitely makes it a lot easier to burn (minimum focusing distance is around 10 feet I believe). I can also expand the beam to about 2.5 to 3mm diameter and the beam just seems to go on forever at that diameter.

I'm thinking about getting the 20x beam expander.....whenever I can release some funds....

Dude! I just got mine today also.... RPL 425 with average of 441mW. Mine needs no beam expander as the divergence is really low, less than 1 mrad. Man this thing is bright. Tell me, does your laser flicker some as it is warming up? I guess if it gets too hot it may start doing so. How does yours look when turned on? My beam is about 2mm wide and it stays small for a long way. Nice black laser....I bought the silver one.
Let me know how yours behaves. I have both the adjustable and non adjustable tail caps. I know the case the laser comes in is a little flimsy so I will get me a Pelican case for mine tomorrow. This laser is great and the beam seems to go for miles! To all who have this laser and other models, PLEASE look carefully in the air before you aim the laser up & make sure there are no planes or Jets. This laser is powerful and a joy to use. Remeber your safety glasses, eyesight is precious. Man this thing is bright, 1/2 of a watt hurts!

Technical data:
Model RPL 425
Wavelength: 532nm
Both tail caps adjustable and non adj.
An average of 441mW and peak up to 515?? (can't remember actual)

Here are a few quick photos of mine:

Ughhh I hate you Guys. If we go with a group buy order hopefully I'll get a Optotronics quality laser from Viasho

Here's my two best lasers...

The RPL 375 Green settles at 400mW's and the Blue 35 gets to 40mW's. :D

how do you modified the adjustable tail cap from optotronics that can be used without the key ? i know they come with a little *key* to adjust.

I Figure I'll ask here as well since This is an RPL Thread, How is it that RPL's have such long Duty Cycles and short cooling off period? It's vastly superior to CNI's PGL III (Or Hulk Ultra, crossfire, nova laser, and aries as its known).

Since I can't get CNI's Hercules I was looking at RPL's, everyone says they are better, and despite not being fan cooled I guess you can operate them without damaging them and wait less to cool down. Searched and not much help

Surely there are more RPL owners out there that can contribute to this post. Any Others???
