Old Style O-Like 200mw focusing question

Ive had one of the 200mw old style O-Like red lasers for about a year now, and Ive never been able to focus it properly and keep it locked. I have tried lighting matches, burning paper/balloons, etc... and havent had any luck. Anyone have any good tips on how to properly focus it to the highest potential, such as maximum distance and visibility? Thanks in advance for any help!

This is the one that uses the little tool to focus with?

You focus it to where you want it and to lock it down you could use like some elmers glue or something thats easy to remove in case you want to readjust it later.
