Old DVDs laser diodes

I have been recently watching on YouTube certain people creating powerful lasers from old DVDs, which made me interested in building lasers from DVD that I have from old computers.

My question is, should I take diodes from my old DVDs that say class 3B radiation to get powerful diodes (picture 4 and 5)?

Which DVDs should I take laser diodes from?

Also what kind of driver would I need for DvD laser diode?

Or should I purchase 3.3 ohm resistors with LM317, anyone knows good link for these?
What batteries should I use with DVDs diodes?

Thanks

CD or DVD burners diode pulls is what really started this forum. I think they were the bdr-12 405 style.
I would look way way back for posts if still possible. Unless they used Torch light drivers I think the LM317 were it at first.

I hope someone chimes in.

Utube it, there are plenty of old videos showing the use of a MM317 on a burner pull diode.

It will play when you hit the u tube link.
Crude but leads to more.

Yes I have seen the videos.

Although, the old computers haven't been used for many years and when I opened them they had thick layers of dust.
Last time my parents used them was more then 10 years ago and we don't use them anymore since newer verions of windows have launched that they use.
So they are just being stored, unused, literally abandoned and gathering dust.

Anyways, they do have DVDs and I saw that one of them is RW DVD.
I want to take the chances to build a burning laser, I need to get LM317 and 3 ohm resistors :)

I am 22 years old, I promise you to 100%.
Truthful answer is that my age is 22 years old!

I was showing the video for the LM317 and resister setup.
I would think the LM317's are the most common drivers ever made and should have some in your old equipment and so easy to find on ebay.

Yes I agree.
I guess one 3 ohm resistor + LM317 is probably one of the easiest drivers you can make for a laser.
I have already found these on ebay for relatively cheap :)

More than likely, I will build later like in few months, maybe not now.

Remember you want to regulate current not voltage.
It sounds important to have a current regulator.

But how does it work and how do I use it?
Is there a YouTube video?

I guess buying a correct driver that fits inside an Aixiz laser module and/or a red laser diode like LPC-815 is better and easier.
Although there is a slim chance that one of the five old DvDs might have a powerful red laser diode, who knows...
