I just got a 35 WATT CW Nd:YAG laser system! It cost me less than I've seen those SSY-1 YAG laser heads selling for. I paid $154.33 for it. It's going to cost me more to pick it up than to buy it. It's got the resonator, PS driver, Q-switch driver...everything necessary. Now I have to install a 220V 50A outlet to power the beast.

Frothy ----

You LUCKY SOB ;D Congrats. Hope you get it working --
Be careful with the volts and output.

Mike

Thanks Mike. No worries on the circuitry. Been there, done that. It will live again! Muhahahaha!

Frothy -- I see in your avitar that your goggles are the wrong color for this laser  ;D
Mine are kinda green ----

:o Post some pictures when you get it. Sheesh, some people get all the good toys.

man that's an amazing deal - maybe you should grab BlueFusion's laserscope KTP :D

I can see I have a mission to break you guys of the green habit. It's not all about the color of the beam. I'd just as soon pump 35 watts of 1064nm into a thin sheet of steel instead of burning electrical tape. Plus I'll be hopefully uploading a new video of a 10 watt 532nm making a 5 watt 532nm KTP'd YAG a bit superfluous ;)

sheesh you have access to a lot of fun stuff ;D

still though, lasers just aren't as fun when you can't see them :(

WOW , $150!!!! :o I know I would've come up with that money instantly for one of those :D Nice deal.Really nice.I mean, really really really nice.Wow, again.

Maybe for you it's not a big deal, but I would just flip to see a 10W green beam ::) Just shoot it right out the window. :D

I'm still trying to get my hands on the 10W 532nm. If I do I'll film it cutting things and burning stuff.

You could add a little fog, so there wouldn't be too much difference between the brightness of the beam and the brightness of the dot/diffuse reflections. The camera makes that look somewhat annoying. :-/

And please make a video of the 35W YAG laser after you install the proper outlet ;D
I don't know if 1064nm shows on cameras, but if it does, even just a bit, at 35W you should be able to take beamshots. :D

Yeah, there will lots of sparks flying off of metal and plastic melting plus some really cool stuff you can do with high power Q-switched systems like ionize air, etc. My camera will pick up the 1064 but you probably won't see the beam.

I really wanna see the air ionizing part. There are some videos on youtube that have long discutions about if they're fake or not.

I take it it's arc lamp pumped? Diode pumped wouldn't require that kind of power would it?
