Hi,
This was a fun build and this diode is very bright even in well lit rooms. The beam pic below was taken with lights on and flash. The pic of the module is to show how I used a cu full back and two focus knobs to make the module the right lenth to pinch between the battery pill and cu washer. It has a knotch filed into the bottom focus knob so the diode wires don't pinch.

What's in it:
2- 750ma drivers set at 600ma ea. From existotem ($10)
Mitsubishi 500 diode techood ($18)
Cree flashlight item #151821622578 ebay ($5)
G7 lens podo ($11)
extended focus adapter, survival laser ($10)
12mm brass 5.6mm module with full cu back ($2)
1 3/4" cu washer
Total: $56

This flashlight is a sweet host as it will also accept the 35mm cu modules DTR sales
Thanks for looking

Hi VV ,
Very interesting build with the CU washer as a base plate. Oh that hosts called a C8 And if you need a heatsink Eudaimomium makes them with free shipping. Not all C8's are the same some are called C2's if you decide for a sink for it Take some measurement or send the host over to him. Check it out. And the Saik host is another awesome host to i built 2 and like them a lot

Hi Rich,
Yeah, I like this host since I figured out how to use 12mm modules in it as well, gonna order a couple more of em.
Thanks for looking at my build
Danny

Here's a beam shot side by side with my 3w 445. The 445 looks a brighter blue in the pic than in person

Another pic side by side with a 301 650nm

Damn I like your host better. I just got mine built and unfortunately I didn't take any pics as I went along mostly because I was concentrating and trying not to screw up my first build lol. But how hard is it to screw up a case neutral C6 build. But anyways I'm gonna post a thread on it soon. Great build VV :-)

Hi VV,
Outstanding buddy that 301 don't stand a chance against the Mitsu awesome job. Looks brighter than the 445 to congrats ..
Rich:)

@ Richie,
Hey you can take pics when its all done, and your 1st build you don't want to screw up. Well you heard of Murphy's law right. Cant wait to see your build Pal.

Rich:)

Very true. Haha yeah Murphy's law, with my luck the first time I make a mistake and fry something it'll be when I'm building something like the NUGM01T. Lol!

Hi Richie,
hey thats why you practice on the cheaper diodes first it won't hurt as much if you fry it and you learn from the mistake you make to. Yours will come out ok take your time don't rush it . go away from it then comeback if theres a brain fart it pays off and i get plenty of them from time to time LOL !! Pics, pics, pics please ..

Rich:)

I guess I missed something in your list of parts. I see you have a copper heat sink, but there wasn't a mention of the cost of that to your build. Congratulations on your first Mits 635nm build.

Thanks Paul,
That's a cu washer, the only heatsink is the cu full back half of the module.(the cu washer sinks some also with the benefit of air wicking)

Oh, okay. I'd be careful of the duty cycle. Very nice build, though. I'd rep you but have to wait.

Im confused as to why you needed 2 drivers. +REP

Rich, you should still take some pics of the finished product. Whatever you did to build it worked so congrats;)

Hi Pman,
I used two adjustable 750ma drivers set at 600ma ea. for 1200ma.
@Paul
Since you posted your concern about duty cycle I opened my mits 500 up and ran it for two mins (I was concerned also) with minimal heating. Suprisingly, this diode doesnt produce exessive heat. May be the open can?
Thanks guys for looking at my build
Danny

Edit:
The drivers get hotter than the diode does, gonna sink the chips

Hi,
Sorry for the double post, my two driver set up seems to be only putting out 800ma's now. I have an 1.8a adjustable boost driver that was advertised for 445nm i got on ebay. Is it possible to use it on my mits500 if i set it at 1.5a? I have it on a test load set st 1.5a and it's showing 3.1v
Thanks
Danny

Hi VV,
Good luck with a 1.5A setting that gives me the shivers. 1.2 maybe 1.3a the most. My X Boost is set to 1.2A and putting out 1100mw's it peaked over 1150 then leveled outt .be careful buddy. well again drop it down to 1.3a

Go ahead make my day feeling lucky punk LOL !!

Rich:)
