I recently put one of these LOC diodes into an aixiz module. It was difficult to do as it was a very tight fit.

I think the alignment may be off as the unfocused beam is not round or symettrical ... I am quite new to this hobby so can someone tell me what the unfocused beam of a LOC diode should look like ?

I can focus to a dot so should I leave it as is ?

Can this diode be removed from the aixiz housing without destroying it ?

can you show us a picture of the unfocused dot please ?

Usually the beam will not be perfectly round. The acrylic lens that comes with an Aixiz module will distort the beam very slightly, but still allows you to focus down to a very small spot. Also, laser diodes usually project an elliptical spot as opposed to round. As Diachi said, post a picture because if the beam is very distended, blurry, or appears to be a completely random shape or blob then there may be more of a problem..

My 22x LOC, when focused to a dot, is actually a small dot with a line going thru it. I've read in different threads here on LPF, this is normal.

^ Mine has a line thru it also. I'm using the Aixiz glass lens. I'm not really sure why this occurs, but it doesn't detract from the beam quality too much, so I don't mind..

No. The removal process will usually destroy the diode. It's a very snug fit.

the dot with a line is normal. the line is helpful to know that it is focused. the line should dissappear when you un focus it

I've been able to remove diodes by pressing them out with a piece of a radio antenna.
It fits into the opening for the module and sits on the base of the diode so you can push it out.

A .22 Caliber Long Rifle Brass casing works VERY WELL for Diode removal from an AIXIZ MODULE ;)

I wasn't very successful at getting a picture of the dot, but I can't see the line that you guys mention. Maybe it's just that the dot is too bright to look at close up ...  :o

I think I found out why the unfocused dot had a strange shape. It seems that the laser burned holes through the back of the aixiz lens holder creating a strange shape.

I cut a larger hole in the back of the lens holder, the unfocused dot is now round, however one half is brighter, making me think that the diode is bent.

When inserted correctly is the die usually centered within the aixiz module, when looking at it from the front ?

I can do it without destroying the diode. the Aixiz module will be destroyed though.
