aside from keeping the diode cool what other considerations should be made when trying to get an infinite duty cycle? (or at least a very very long duty cycle)

Use a heatsink capable of dissipating the heat generated,
or reduce the output of the laser to match the ability of
the heatsink..

Sometimes the driver must be heat sinked as well.

Peace,
dave

aside from heat sinking is there any risk of circuit instability when operating for 5+ minutes?

I ran a flexdrive for 30min @ 1.5A and did not see any problems. I would think as long as all the components are operating within their heat tolerances they should be fine.

Kind of a misleading thread title, makes it sound like you are going to SHARE "secrets," not ask for them.

I'm sure that's on purpose.

thats how all my thread titles are...and it worked didnt it?

4 responses, yes, what a coup.

You must really need validation if you feel the need to trick people to get them to read your threads. Plus it's against the rules (of any forum).

Sad.

Oh, man, I am so sorry. I hope you feel better soon.

stop going off topic no one asked you to post right now ur being a troll if no one has anything else to add as far as duty cycle goes i ask that a mod close this thread

Seriously, all kidding aside, thread titles should be named appropriately. Purposely misleading people so you can get clicks is selfish and doesn't help the community.

A thread on how to increase duty cycle is a good idea and there is nothing wrong with simply calling it "how do you increase duty cycle?" or "Tell us YOUR secrets for longer duty cycles!"

But making people think you're actually going to GIVE some hints on it, then only to admit you're clueless, is kinda silly and pointless.

And now asking a mod to close it before the thread has a chance to go somewhere is even more perplexing.

Suggesting you treat the forum with respect and follow simple guidelines shouldn't get your panties in a twist, so just chill out and be considerate of others.
