I donno what it is with me and getting burners that have diodes that are completely unusable. I just recently purchased 9 dead drives (all samsung) and you saw the results of that. Plastic mounted peices of junk. Now I got 4 drives. 3 alike and wouldn't ya know it the 3 that are all the same are completely unusable for mounting in an aixiz module. Check em out!

OK these things are BRIIIIGHT!  lots of POWER!!  WHOO BOY NOW i GOTTA FIND A HOME FOR EM!  WHOO.


Although what in gods name are all those other pins for? photosensor? it only takes two pins for positive and negative. why would you need the others? any guesses? I can provide better pics if needed.
 
Very weird looking...the other pins were put there to confuse people like us.. ;D
 
those diodes look CRAZY! lol that stinks on bad luck but it they turn out to be killer thats good and is 1 ir 1 red like most burners?
 
Holy Invisible Pink Unicorn! Get us some pictures of those diodes out of the housing! :o
 
Ok, so I had an old module from a 5mw pointer from about 5 years ago. Nice sturdy pot metal module similair to the Aixiz. I modified the housing to fit this beast.

Oh and I opened up the can on teh IR to see what was inside.  hehe.

sure looks like an optical sensor of some sort to me. so all the pins were useless to me
 
Well, it ain't gonna win any prizes in a beauty contest, that is for certain !  But here is the important part.......
DOES IT WORK ???
 
Hell yeah it works. Had to remove the cube on top it was a beam splitter/difraction cube. sent it out like a line of dots.
Puttin out about 50-75mw but that's just off two AAA batts

That is putting out some nice power...it looks like the match was a non-sharpied with a white head? I noticed you were not holding it perfectly still when it lit...similar to what my open can can diode do with 350ma's.
