is it possible to burn the lens in my laser?

Ok so I bought a kit from jayrob with the 405-g-1 and a 445 diode in a axiz module from daguin. And I am very impressed with the power of the laser as well as the craftsmanship by jayrob .. the only issue I have is with the 405-g-1 lens. When I first assembled the kit obviously I had no idea how far to screw in the lens to achieve focus so I screwed in the lens 3 full turns and put on my saftey glasses and tried it out. The first thing I noticed was a large dot in the middle of the unfocused light. So I turned it off removed the laser lens and inspected it. And it has a small bubble in the lens that looks like its burned. Is this going to effect the performance of my laser? Or should I just see if jayrob will. Replace it? Or is it something not of concern because the defect is not near the center of the lens?
 





It could of been a bit of dust on the lens that burnt, try cleaning the lens
 
I agree with kookapeli, take a que-tip and slowly rub it on the lens.

I tried cleaning it with a q tip and with a q tip wrapped in toilet paper ...and its still there. Would so rubbing alcohol damage the lens?
 
No. Another member here has used rubbing alcohol to clean off their lens that had thermal paste on it... it will be okay as long you dont let it sit in there for several hours.

If it gets so bad to to point where the frontal window deteriorates with each use, you may need to de-can it, which IMO is a pretty nasty operation. I don't know much about decanning, so you'll have to ask other people around here. Doing so will remove the window on the diode and thus, youll have a better looking output.
