Inside a 6x blu-ray burner diode (thanks Mike)

Hemlock_mike has sent me one of these that met a premature end. Here are some phtos of the internals. You can see the pin conection arrangement clearly, as well as a shattered facet. Also it's interesting to note the z-like gold electrode on top, instead of the usual straight sliver.

There's my mistake for all to see The window came loose and I think got in front of the beam at ~100 mW. One moment super, then an odd beam shape then dim. Be very careful pushing LD's out of housings.

Hey, yes it's a fairly old microscope camera, all I do is hit a button

Man those are some sharp pictures drlava. The 2 X diodes had the laser etch on them as well. Wonder why the blu-ray diodes have that?

Mike, we all know that I have felt your pain. On the up side, I just scored a 6 X GGW-H20L for $249 with free shipping! Although I haven't received it yet. So, I hope the guy on e-bay didn't rip me off. But the point is, I think maybe some of the price dropping is already beginning...
