Hi my friends (this is my first post) i have BIG problem.
I take 1W laser diode and X5 Micro FlexDrive.
i set to 1.5A and i use 5V (from pc usb)
But i have low power :undecided:
I need to do something else to have 1W power?
thanks:yabbem:

Your USB port cannot source anywhere near 1.5A, so the diode will be vastly underpowered. You need proper 5VDC regulated source, the 5V line from a PC power supply would be ideal.

The maximum for USB 2.0 port current supply is 500mA.
And yes, as already stated, 18650 lithium ion cell is a very good choice for power, but please take care with the laser - it's not a toy!

"Eudaimonium: please take care with the laser - it's not a toy!
eytyxhs: its my first laser!"

EPIC

Keep in mind that running at 1.5A from a Flexdrive, the driver needs a heatsink.

Yeah, seriously, you should NOT have taken 445nm laser as your first project.

After all, nobody here got their first laser right :) You're sacrifising $40 diode.

Here, before you destroy your diode, please unsolder it and put it away for a while.

Order this:
HighTechDealZ - 405nm PHR803T Blu Ray Laser Sled

It's cheap and very nice violet color diode! :) You also get two diodes in that sled, so you can practise with the second one before using expensive diodes.

Also, don't forget laser goggles!!
405nm,473nm,532nm laser safety goggles [OLGLG532] - $19.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

These will protect you in any event of accident, also staring at the blue dot up close will also damage your vision!

my PC power supply is 12V no 5V. i cant test it. i wait for 18650 battery to test it.

You need a power supply from a desktop PC, not the transformer for a laptop.
On a desktop PSU you have all kinds of voltages (-5, -12, 3.3, 5, 12).
