Welcome, I guess...

And to save even more clicks, the message reads as follows:

"SUNDAYELEVENJUNETWOTHOUSANDSEVENTEENENDMESSAGESTOP"

Or to go easier on the eyes:

"Sunday eleven June two thousand seventeen end message stop"

@Radim, Thank you for the warm welcome. My first introduction to Lasers, occurred around circa 1975, at about the same time period I was also introduced to computers.
Specifically an IBM 360. Both of these emerging technologies fascinated this young lad at the time and ultimately, I chose to pursue Big Blue.
But I have always maintained a profound interest in Lasers.

I have joined this forum to explore, expand and indulge this long standing curiosity. And an informal platform such as this will allow me to do so at my leisure.
Of course there are myriad other reasons as well, and they too will become evident going forward.

BTW, one of the main reasons why I chose to focus on computers back in the day, was due in large part to the 360, having a few game programs installed and running.
My favorite was "Star Trek" it was modeled after the popular franchise, with Klingons, Phasers, Warp Drives and everything.

Of course there were no crt monitors at that time, and all data output results were printed out on endless reams of paper. Let that sink in for a moment.

Anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome.

@ElectricPlasma, Thanks to you as well, for the jovial welcome and for all the time, and work that you obviously invest here.
What I have gathered from a quick perusal through this forum, it appears your efforts are helping to achieve a desirable effect, thank you for that as well.:gj:

Well, that's cool. First laser (not maser) was introduced in 1960, so your interest is covering large part of laser history. ;)

I'm sure you will find a great place here to develop your hobby. I also did and do. Thanks to LPF and great community here I'm able to do this hobby not only theoreticaly but even practically as the community motivates me to continue with laserpainting for example. Hopefully you'll get the same. ;)

@Hap, Thank you. I'm happy to be here.
And I'm looking forward to continuing the adventure a.k.a. Life.
BTW Carl, knew we were/and are not alone. But ever the eloquent chap.
Let's hope that our species comes to realize that WE are important, for expansive reasons as yet unacknowledged.

Thanks again for welcoming moi, and thanks for your efforts here as well. :gj:

@Laserbee, Thank you  Am I correct in assuming you ride? I have been riding (on & off) although I prefer 'on' since obtaining a license to do so. Currently I have an 03' Road Glide Ultra, dusting in peace. Unfortunately I haven't been in the saddle since 08' or thereabouts. limited time & the roadways having become increasingly perilous with distracted drivers, has considerably dulled my enthusiasm to ride. I've been down once before, in '76 during my first season. Luckily with no encores since, but after the last couple of close calls with a passenger (spouse) mounted up, I decided to be thankful for all the pleasant accumulated memories and left it at that. I should perhaps sell the machine, but it's hard to let go completely.

Thanks again for the welcome, and I look forward to doing business with you in the near future. Biker wave

@BobMc, Thank you. Coincidentally, some former neighbors of ours relocated to Lancaster, 3-4 years ago. The husband ended up working on the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) aloft team, and the wife ended up working for a contractor that she was not at liberty to discuss the last time we spoke. Would you perhaps be involved in the aerospace industry as well? FWIW, I'm prior NAVAIR.
BTW, nice collection of hardware you have shared.

@CurtisOliver, Thank you. Of course I come in peace, but there was a time in my past when the opposite was true.
Thankfully, we possess an ability to change and adapt, some more so than others.

Thanks again for the welcome guys.

Do you come in peace? :tinfoil: :p

Welcome to LPF, Earth! :)

Here you are Bob. :D

Thanks for the translation Curtis.
Don't happen to speak binary.
Come to think of it, there was a show on the Star Trek the Next Generation, that had some binar's, could it be?? :D

No don't work in Aerospace industry. Wished.

Thanks for appreciating my collection, it's a fun hobby, I've got a couple more to add, and one real special one, I'll do a review on, when I get it. Welcome and enjoy. And I'm glad you come in peace. :)

Well, this is good. Don't worry about the past. The present is what we are living in. Some people possess the ability for change. :)

Anyway. I'm sure you will get along fine here.
